The Pillars Dream Living Foundation initiated a project in 2024 to support and empower widows in Kano State through the distribution of grinding machines and start-up capital. This report outlines the project’s scope, implementation, and impact on the beneficiaries from Kaduna, Zaria, and Kano.

PROJECT BACKGROUND:

The initiative aimed to provide widows with the necessary resources and tools to start their businesses, promoting self-sufficiency and financial independence. By distributing grinding machines and start-up capital, the project sought to improve the livelihoods of widows and enhance their social and economic well-being.

OBJECTIVES:

a) To distribute grinding machines and start-up capital to widows in Kano State.

b) To empower widows to start their businesses and generate income.

c) To enhance the social and economic well-being of widows in the targeted communities.

IMPLEMENTATION:

a) Beneficiary Identification: Widows from Kaduna, Zaria, and Kano were identified as beneficiaries of the project. Eligible participants were selected based on their socio-economic status and need for financial support.

b) Distribution of Grinding Machines: Each beneficiary received a grinding machine to enable them to start a small-scale business. The machines were distributed during a designated event, where beneficiaries were also provided with demonstrations and training on proper usage and maintenance.

c) Start-Up Capital: In addition to the grinding machines, each beneficiary received 30,000 Naira in start-up capital to cover initial operational expenses and help establish their businesses.

IMPACT:

a) Enhanced Livelihoods: The project enabled beneficiaries to start their businesses, providing a source of income and improving their financial independence.

b) Empowerment: By equipping widows with the tools and resources to become entrepreneurs, the initiative empowered them to take control of their economic well-being and gain confidence in their abilities.

c) Social and Economic Well-being: The project contributed to enhancing the social and economic well-being of widows in the targeted communities, fostering a sense of community and resilience among beneficiaries.

CONCLUSION:

The grinding machine distribution and empowerment project by The Pillars Dream Living Foundation successfully supported widows in Kano State, providing them with essential resources to start their businesses and generate income. The initiative demonstrated the Foundation’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
